Six days a week the Daily Journal serves Johnson County and the south suburban area of Indianapolis. Founded in 1963, it is one of Indiana's most honored community newspapers, having won many awards for newspaper excellence from the Indiana Associated Press and the Hoosier State Press Association.

In 2009 HSPA honored the Daily Journal with its coveted Blue Ribbon Award as the best daily newspaper in Indiana.

The Daily Journal also won first place in the general excellence category among newspapers in its circulation size.
