The core functionality of the app is rock solid. It works. Every time. Not one crash. But my problem is all this time I see no spit polish with some nice to have features.Example 1: Now, this is petty. Tom Petty. But for accounts that don't automatically pull in an avatar image ID like the option to set it myself. When I click edit I should be able to click each image and set it from photos. Example 2: For an app that provides security why can't I set a password or touched for opening the app? Like everything else I can enable this with the understanding that it's my responsibility to secure said password to access my app. This way no one can snatched my phone when it's on but unlocked at my desk and I'm in the restroom. It's the little quality of life things that are missing that could really set this app apart from the competition. That being said I trust MS with my data more than Google so I'll keep this. Good job. But please consider these changes.
I don't know what's exactly the cause of this but every time there's a new app update for this, it always crashes upon opening whenever I open it up after rebooting my iPhone (previously it would go black for couple of seconds and freezes before crashing). It's been going on for 3-4 months now and it's very annoying. Reinstalling it doesn't help either. However, it is a pretty convenient authenticator app that does what it supposed do. Just wished it doesn't crash every single time these days.
Love it for how it works as a remote Authenticator for OneDrive & Outlook, and especially for work to authenticate with TouchID when logging in to work resources. BUT - really frustrated by how you lose 2 factor or step linkage to services when you have to restore your iPhone (either from having to erase or moving to a new iPhone) and now I’ve lost login access to some services I used it with for 2 factor. One in particular doesn’t even offer email temporary recovery so I have to completely wipe my settings and information to re-establish access.
From Microsoft: The Microsoft Authenticator lets you quickly and securely verify your identity online, for all of your accounts. A variety of features are available for all types of accounts. Two-step verification: Two-step verification helps protect your account by providing an extra layer of security beyond simply your password. Here's how it works - when signing in, after entering your password, you'll be asked for an additional way to prove it's really you. Either approve the notification sent to the Microsoft Authenticator, or enter the verification code generated by the app. With this feature, even if someone manages to find your password, they'll be stopped if they don't have access to your phone too. Phone sign-in: Introducing phone sign-in for personal Microsoft accounts. After enrolling your account through the app, you can sign in to your account with only your phone. Just approve the notification sent to the Microsoft Authenticator after entering your username. Available on most Android devices. Device registration: Some organizations require that you register your device before accessing certain files, emails, or apps. This way, they know that the sign-in request is coming from a trusted device. This can easily be completed through the app. This app replaces the Azure Authenticator, Microsoft account, and Multi-Factor Authentication apps. Enroll in our beta program.
